Here at Good Shepherd Lutheran we have many opportunities for individuals to meet together and serve the Lord as we gather. By meeting together we serve Lord, the church and one another in various clubs, groups, and committees.
Congregational & Informational Voter's Meetings: These meetings are held quarterly for members to help give the Church Council, Elders and various committees´ direction and help them decide oncrucial decisions for our church and school. The meetings also inform the members on "what is going on at Good Shepherd?".
Church Council: The Church Council is a group of elected representatives of the congregation. They implement resolutions of the congregation and carry out such assignments as directed by the congregation. They are to aid the pastors in the spiritual and physical well–being of the congregation. The 12 members of the Church Council are elected to three–year terms.
Education Committee: The Education Committee is a group of elected men, responsible to formulate policies of sound Christian education, implement them on the congregational school, and family level.
Church Elders: The Elders of the congregation are men from the Church Council. These men serve the church by assisting our pastors in monitoring church attendance and making home visits to all members on a rotating schedule. They also assist in the format of worship service.
Church Trustees: These men are given the responsibility of maintaining the church and school grounds and buildings. Two men hold these positions; however, other members are welcomed to offer assistance to them.
Evangelism Committee: This group of individuals plans and implements a variety of evangelism / outreach events throughout the year.
Stewardship Committee: In addition to many fellowship activities, this group also focuses on Stewardship and how we can best encourage our members to serve our Lord with the gifts that we have to offer him.
"Golden Oldies": In addition to many fellowship activities, this group also focuses on Stewardship and how we can best encourage our members to serve our Lord with the gifts that we have to offer him.
20´s and 30´s Group: We are beginning to establish a fellowship group for the younger singles, couples & families of our congregation.
Youth Group: Our youth has the opportunity to meet together at various times throughout the year. They try to set up at least one activity each month. They meet together to evaluate the gifts that our youth can bring to our congregation and how they can be used to serve our Lord. They also enjoy fun and fellowship with one another.
Men´s Club & Ladies of Good Shepherd:
September – May First Wednesday each month (6:30 – 7:30 p.m.)
All men / ladies are invited to take part in these groups for an hour of fellowship. Pastor opens with devotion for our spiritual growth. Followed by a short business meeting. The majority of the time is spent in a fun fellowship activity.
Lutheran Women´s Mission Society (LWMS): This organization is for women of all of our WELS congregations. They meet together for area rallies during fall and spring. There is also a national rally held each summer in a different location.
Music Groups: Good Shepherd has opportunities for our musically inclined members. Including but not excluded to: Choir, Organists, Bell Chime Choir, and Special Music – Vocal or Instrumental.
Volunteer Opportunities: The Lord gives us each many different talents. One of the gifts we can offer to Him, is the use of those talents. Other opportunities include Serving Circles, Church Newsletter, Sunday School, V.B.S. , Classroom Volunteers, Lunchroom Volunteers and distributing flyers throughout the community. And many more not so little ways.
Prayer / Information Chain
Following our Lord´s command to pray and to "always keep praying for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18) our Prayer Chain offers an opportunity to pray for our brothers & sisters in our church family when special needs arise. You may offer your email address to accept the prayer requests via your home computer; otherwise you will be included on our phone line prayer chain. We pray knowing that "the prayer of the righteous man is powerful and effective" (James 5:16) and with the confidence that the Lord surely hears our prayers. If you have any questions please contact the church office.
Other Groups: Good Shepherd has other activities to offer as well. From Church Softball Team, Card Clubs, Bowling, and Volleyball to name a few. If there is something you would like to see started, please talk with a Pastor or a Church Councilman.
